Unlocking Human Potential
There are about 8 billion people in the world. More and more people are escaping poverty. As more and more people live lives free of worry of basic needs like food and shelter, there will be an ever greater need to unlock human potential. To enable people to take advantage of their gifts and live lives of abundance.
At this huge scale, adoption of simple techniques for productivity and organization could be very impactful. If someone comes up with something like the Getting Things Done method and people who use it are on average 5% more productive, and 100 million people use it, that’s significant. Or if 10% more of the population does something simple like write down personal goals, and that makes those people 10% more productive. With the minimal distribution costs of the Internet, one good idea can help a billion people.
So there is tremendous potential, more and more, for people who share practical wisdom in a way that consumers can implement the ideas. Someone like James Clear with his writing on habit formation might have made a couple of million people’s lives better. Self help and personal productivity doesn’t have the greatest reputation, but the category has huge potential for the improvement of lives.
