I have worked on the same team at the same company for almost five years now. In that time, I’ve learned a lot about the software that my team maintains. And I’ve earned a reputation as an expert on these components.
People find themselves wanting to know things about these components, and they try one of a few different routes. They look for documentation. Or maybe they search in the group communication tool we use, Slack, for past conversations on the topic. Or they submit a ticket to the IT help desk, or the engineering production support team.
